"Jharkhand" as it's name suggests is spread over most of the mountainous and forest region of the state of Bihar.It covers most of chottanagpur region.

During the movement of Indian independence, the tribal leaders of this region had played an important role.Their struggle and agitations were led by the tribal leaders of Jharkhand. The people
living in this region have preserved their region's socio-cultural identity. Geographically also the region is quite different from the rest of country.During the British rule it's capital"Ranchi" was their summer capital.

The formtion of a separate state of Jharkhand in 2000 is the fulfillment of a long yearning dream of the people for their seperate geo-political identity in the country.

The newly born state has many dreams, hopes and aspirations. This state has unlimited mines and minerals, abundant forest resources, several attractive tourist spots, a number of prestigious educational institutions, etc. The state also has a number of industries including some which are run by multinational corporations.So it can be said this state has everything that can bring happiness & prosperity.

Therefore, this state will meet the challanges of industrialisation and globalisation that will certainly make it a model state for others to follow.
