Pollachi is a leading commercial center and is situated 40 km south of Coimbatore. Due to its scenic beauty, Pollachi and its surrounding hamlets has influenced several motion pictures made in south India.
The temples of Mari Amman and Subramanya are two major shrines in the region. The sculpture depicting a five hooded serpent, a Yali with a chain from its mouth and carved zodiacal signs in the Subramanya temple is eye-catching. Parambikulam-Aliyar multipurpose project (series of dams) is nearby. |
